A modern extension built out of traditional materials harmonises with a restored rural barn.

  • The client, a young professional, wanted to create a contemporary home using materials that were sympathetic to the local vernacular.

The site had originally housed an old barn that was in a state of disrepair.

The old barn was sympathetically restored using traditional techniques. We also gained permission for a rear extension to provide additional entertaining space. This extension was modern by design but was built using traditional techniques and materials, including oak framing and zinc roofing.
